Can i take cuttings of my geraniums AND hang them from the ceitling this winter? or is it one or the other?

i want to overwinter my geraniums. i have learned of a few different ways to do this. one is to take cuttings from them, the other is to hang the roots in a basement. has anyone done both?

I know you can take green tomatoes and hang them upside down in a root cellar and they will ripen up during the winter, but I've not tried preserving geraniums this way. Try both methods and get back with us in May... Maybe I'll give it a shot, too. I'm in north central Arkansas, very humid, coldest it gets in winter is about zero. Average temp. 55, humidity Idk, but probably 65% avg. Y'all?
Reply:if you just keep the plants from freezing this winter,they will come back next year. only need to be watered several times,unless they are kept in a warm place. then you can take cuttings from them.
Reply:take them and dry them out in the pot and lay the pot on its side in a dark cool basement yes I do this and it works I,ve had one spend a year in the dark and survive
