Are geraniums flowers that come up every year?

It depends on what plant you are referring to.

Plants commonly known as Zonal Geraniums are Pelargonium x hortorums and are true perennials in the botanical world but are treated as annuals in areas where the receive frost in winter. If you are in an area where there is light frost, they survive and live on each year. These are commonly used in containers and borders.

Plants commonly known as Crane's Bills are in the genus Geranium (and are called true geraniums or hardy geraniums). There are many species of these like Geranium macrorrhizum (big root geranium), Geranium sanguineum (bloody crane's bill) and Geranium himalayense (crane's bill) to name just a few. These vary in winter hardiness but they are all perennial and some can tolerate very low temperatures.

Here are pictures of each to show the difference so you can see what plant you were asking about:

Hope this helps. :)

Depending on your zone. In warmer climates (higher zones) yes. I live in zone 8 and sometimes it does and sometimes not depending on how cool of a winter we get. You can cover them in the winter especially on nights that a freeze is expected to get a better chance of its return. By the way a plant that returns ever year is called a perennial and if it last just one year it is an annual just FYI.
Reply:There is a plant called a "cranes bill" that is also referred to as a "hardy geranium". It will take cold temperatures and bloom very well in your garden. It is quite different from the non hardy geranium. It forms a mound instead of an upright plant.
Reply:geraniums are best in pots in many locations. When it starts to get cold, you can just bring it inside, keep it near a window and water it and it will be fine. I've had the same geranium plant for 10 years.
Reply:Here in CA, yes, they are a perennial, in other parts of the country, they are an indoor plant that you can put outside once the danger of frost is past.
Reply:DEPENDS WERE YOU ARE,IN ENGLAND THEY ARE ANNUALS IN SPAIN THEY COME BACK. IF YOU GET FROSTS NO! if you dont you have a chance they will return
Reply:if u take them indoors in the winter and give them lots of sunlight.....u can set them back out next yr sometimes several yrs..thats why u see them in pots a lot
