How can I keep my geraniums over the winter?

I remember my mom hanging them upside down in the basement, does this really work? Will they be alright to replant next year?
How can I keep my geraniums over the winter?
just bring them inside that what my grandma does
Reply:you have to prevent them from freezing by covering them with grass clippings, etc. they have to be cut back to just a couple inch's,most folk put them in a garage or basement for the winter %26amp; give e'm a bit of water a few times over the winter
Reply:Bring them inside your house because they won't die and my teacher put her geraniums inside for winter and in spring she planted them outside.
Reply:Biing them in and hold back the water for a while to keep from rotting ,
Reply:You can also uproot them, shake the dirt off of the roots, wrap them is paper sacks, and put them in a closet or basement. Next spring, replant them and set in sunny window to get them going again.
