When is it safe to plant geraniums outside?

When is it safe to plant geraniums outside? I live in Southern PA.

Should I keep in in pots?

Any advice would be great.
When is it safe to plant geraniums outside?
A good rule of thumb for us northerners is to plant perennials no sooner than mothers day and annuals no sooner than memorial day. Check the tag in the plant to see which kind it is because you can buy both annual and perennial geraniums. Happy Growing.
Reply:Coral bells are a type of geranium that are very nice accent plants. They have a purplish leaf and small flowers. Report It
Reply:anytime after the last frost date. which should be May 11 in PA
Reply:Are your temps dropping below 65? If not you can put them outside, but keep them in pots. Partial sun, not full sun all day long. They like to be in pots.
Reply:Depends on where you live and whether or not you have a good place to plant the geraniums.

I live in the Midwest and they say that you should not plant until after May 15th. Check the Farmers Almanac for the best time to plant in your area %26amp; what they recomend you keep in pots or plant in the ground.

Good Luck, happy spring!!!
Reply:it's safe now, my mother planted hers the other day, and we're in michigan. she does, however, keep them in pots.
Reply:I live in Ky. which is zone 6. Geraniums are pretty hardy %26amp; easy to care for. I'd wait till there's no danger of a freeze but a light frost usually won't kill them. They grow well in the ground or in pots %26amp; can take full sun well. If you put them in the ground %26amp; have poor soil just all a little potting soil to the hole %26amp; they will be fine. If you pinch off the blooms as they die it will encourage new ones.
Reply:yes.. i live in Illinois and all my plants are outside and i planted some stuff also... yes pots are a good idea... depending on how big they are when you plant them.. you might want a nice sized pot because they themselves get a nice size
Reply:Yeah, keep them in pots, bring them indoors during the freezing months, and put them out after the last freeze, or move to California where we just leave them in the ground all year round.
